The HP ProBook 6570b is a business-oriented laptop from the early 2010s, starting around $800 or so. This laptop came with either a 2nd or 3rd gen Core i3 or a 3rd gen Core i5 or i7. It was also configurable for up to 8 GB of RAM and had SSD upgrade options. Some configurations also included a dedicated AMD graphics card.

== Collection Specifics ==
I received this ProBook 6570b for free from my aunt on March 8, 2024 because she replaced it with a new laptop because this one was completely non-functional and would not turn on at all. This configuration has a 3rd generation Intel Core i5 with 8 GB of RAM.

=== Operating System ===
This laptop was released around the transition period from Windows 7 to Windows 8. Some configurations of this laptop shipped with Windows 7 and some with Windows 8. This laptop is one of the latter, having Windows 8 preinstalled. Currently I have Windows 8 installed until I determine what I want to do with this laptop.

=== Hardware ===
This laptop was completely non-functional when I received it and I ended up replacing the whole motherboard to get it working again. I also swapped out an additional board that has the laptop's serial port on it because the previous serial port had bent pins. This laptop also had a broken power button because the adhesive holding the plastic power button enclosure to the casing wore off I guess, so I just added some new adhesive, and it works like a charm for now. Finally, I also replaced the original hard drive with a SSD for better performance.

The battery in the system was replaced at some point, so it's not original, but it still holds a charge. It is showing some age, though, as it takes a very long time to charge and does not seem to hold a charge for very long, so it'll likely need to be replaced again soon. Besides that, every other component in the system is the same as when I received it and works great!
