The Lenovo ThinkPad X280 is part of the X series lineup of ThinkPads, which are marketed as extra-portable business laptops. These laptops are small and light, making them great to take on the go. The X280 was released in 2018 and came with either a 7th or 8th generation Intel Core CPU, 4, 8, or 16 GB of soldered DDR4 memory, a M.2 SSD, and a non-removable battery. This is the first X-series model to not have upgradable RAM and a removable battery. Intel HD Graphics are the only graphics option available for this laptop. Regarding the display, the X280 had the options for a 1366x768 TN panel, 1920x1080 IPS, or a 1920x1080 IPS touch panel (all anti-glare).

== Collection Specifics ==
My specific X280 has an 8th gen Intel Core i5-8250U, 8 GB of RAM, a 256 GB SSD, and a 1080p IPS display. I got this laptop on June 3, 2024 from a shop in a tech mall in Guangzhou, China. This model has a "JP" at the end of its serial number, implying that it was originally sold in Japan but I'm not 100% sure on that, and I'm not sure how it ended up in China either. I originally bought this laptop with the intention of it being a kind of souvenir from China, but this laptop is actually one of the better laptops in my collection with relatively recent hardware, actually good battery life, and it's lightweight! This makes it the perfect laptop for me to take to school, replacing my trusty but slightly aged [[Lenovo ThinkPad T460s|ThinkPad T460s]].

=== Operating System ===
This computer would've originally shipped with Windows 10 Pro. Since I bought it from a Chinese tech shop, it had Windows 10 Pro in Chinese installed. I was originally going to keep it like that to mess around with, but decided to reinstall an English copy of Windows and upgrade to Windows 11 as I want to use this as my main laptop now.

=== Hardware ===
I'm not sure whether the hardware in this laptop has been modified at all from its factory condition, but I haven't made any modifications to this system yet.
