The Xbox is Microsoft's first video game console, released on November 15, 2001 in North America and in 2002 for Australia, Europe, and Japan. The original Xbox had a record-breaking launch in North America, aided by the popularity of Halo: Combat Evolved; however, outside of the western market the Xbox wasn't very popular, especially in Japan due to a lack of Japanese-developed games.
