The PlayStation 2 (PS2) is the successor to the original PlayStation, released in Japan on March 4, 2000 and on October 26, 2000 in North America. The PS2 is the best-selling video game console of all time, selling over 155 million units worldwide. In 2004, a smaller, lighter revision of the PS2 was released, known as the PS2 Slim. The PS2 remained popular and continued to be produced until 2013.
