The Game Boy Advance (GBA) is a handheld game console from Nintendo, released in Japan on March 21, 2001 and in North America on June 11, 2001. The original GBA did not have an illuminated screen; however, the GBA SP, released in 2003, did contain a front-lit screen. A newer revision of the GBA SP was released in 2005, with a back-lit screen. The Game Boy Advance was available in various colors throughout its production. Initially, it was available in Arctic, Black, Orange, Fuchsia, Glacier, and Indigo colors. Later in the GBA's lifetime, Red, Clear Orange/Black, Platinum, White, and Gold colors were released, along with Hello Kitty, The King of Fighters, Chobits, Battle Network Rockman EXE 2, Mario Bros., and Yomiuri Giants special editions were released.
