The Compaq Presario V6000 was a pretty decent laptop at the time of its release. According to CNET, the Presario V6000 is a "stripped-down version of the HP Pavilion dv6000."[1] Interestingly, the CNET article only mentions variants of this laptop with an AMD Turion processor, instead of the Intel Centrino found in my Presario V6000.
Collection Specifics
I got this laptop for free from one of my uncles in July of 2020 along with a Toshiba Portégé Z835-P330 and Toshiba Satellite C55-B5353. I use this laptop as my main laptop to experiment with anything Windows Vista-related.
Operating System
Originally, this laptop would've shipped with Windows XP based on the sticker on it. I could've installed XP again, but I wanted a Vista laptop and this hardware is good for Vista anyways, along with the fact that this laptop has a SATA storage connector instead of IDE, meaning Windows XP requires a special driver for it to even get past the first setup screen without a Blue Screen of Death. Since I installed Windows Vista, I use this laptop to experiment with the Windows Vista Extended Kernel.
Hardware
The only thing I've upgraded in this laptop is swapping out the original hard drive for a solid-state drive to improve performance.
