The Dell Optiplex 755 is a business oriented desktop computer from 2007. Dell sold many different configurations of these desktops ranging from an Intel Celeron 430 to a Core 2 Quad Q6700 processor, as well as the option of Windows XP Home/Professional or Windows Vista Basic/Business/Ultimate. Memory options ranged from 512 MB of DDR2 667 MHz to 4 GB of DDR2 800 MHz. Original hard drives ranged from 80 GB to 250 GB and graphics options were the Intel GMA 3100 integrated graphics or a 256 MB ATI Radeon HD 2400 Pro or 2400 XT.

Collection Specifics

I bought my Dell Optiplex 755 for $22.50 with $14.50 shipping on eBay on January 12, 2019 to use as my first personal desktop computer. Later, I upgraded to a Dell Optiplex 390 with slightly more modern hardware because at the time I didn't quite realize how old the Core 2 Duo was.

Operating System

As previously mentioned, Dell gave the option of either preinstalled Windows XP or Windows Vista. This device has been through many operating systems in the years that I've owned it. Originally, I installed Windows 7 on it since it was still in support in 2019 and I wanted to use an older operating system on my main computer at the time. At some point I upgraded it to Windows 10, then went back to Vista, then to 7, then 8 and 8.1, and back to 10. I don't really know what was going on during this time. There was also a short period of time when I made this PC a Hackintosh and installed Mac OS X Snow Leopard on it.

Nowadays, this Optiplex 755 is a part of my little home Active Directory computer network and runs Windows 10 Pro.

Hardware

I've done two upgrades to this PC. Some time in 2019 I added in a NVIDIA GeForce 210 graphics card to use for my Hackintosh experimenting. More recently, in September 2022, I upgraded the hard drive to a SSD so it could run Windows 10 decently.
