The Late 2007 MacBook is the successor to the Mid 2007 MacBook from May 2007. There appear to have been 3 configurations of this MacBook originally. The cheapest $1099 configuration came with a 2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 1 GB of RAM, an 80 GB hard drive, and a ComboDrive CD-RW/DVD-ROM drive. For $1299 you could get a 2.2 GHz Core 2 Duo, 1 GB of RAM, a 120 GB hard drive, and a SuperDrive with DVD burning capabilities. Lastly, the $1499 configuration was the same as the $1299 one, except for the 160 GB hard drive, and the now rare black-colored body. All configurations were able to have the RAM upgraded to 2 GB and a 160 GB hard drive.
Collection Specifics
My specific MacBook is the $1099 configuration, with an upgraded 2 GB of memory. I got this laptop used on eBay in July 2022 for just $30 along with the original recovery media for OS X 10.4.9, a copy of .mac, and a copy of iWork '06.
Operating System
According to various sources I found online and an archive of Apple's website from 2007, it would appear this MacBook should've originally shipped with Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard since it's the Late 2007 model, not the Mid 2007 one. However, as previously mentioned, the recovery media for this laptop has OS X 10.4.9 Tiger, which was installed when I received the laptop. Since then, I have upgraded it to Mac OS X 10.6.8 Snow Leopard so that I can get very slightly better software support. I also already have OS X Tiger on my iBook G4, and if necessary, I can always reinstall Tiger since I have the recovery discs. I also could've easily continued upgrading to OS X Lion, but my 2007 Mac Mini already runs Lion, so I decided to stick with Snow Leopard.
Hardware
I have not done any hardware upgrades to this machine, nor do I currently have any plans to do so.
