The Dell Latitude D400 is a powerful and affordable business-looking laptop of the early 2000s. It came with either a 1.3 GHz Intel Centrino or a 1.7 GHz Centrino processor.

Collection Specifics

I bought this laptop for around $30 sometime in early 2018 I believe on eBay. This is the first retro computer I ever bought. I made two YouTube videos of this laptop on my YouTube channel, though in the first video, I really didn't have any idea of what I was doing, yet somehow it's become one of my most viewed videos.

Operating System

This laptop originally shipped with Windows XP Professional. In my YouTube videos, I installed Windows XP on it as well; however, you may notice it's now running Windows 2000. This is because I don't have any other Windows 2000 devices, so I just decided to use this one as a Windows 2000 device since Dell has drivers for it and it actually performs better than XP.

Hardware

When I bought this laptop, it did not come with a hard drive, so it has one that I bought off of eBay, otherwise everything else should be original. It also didn't come with an optical drive originally, so I also had to obtain one myself.
