The iPhone 3GS is Apple's third generation iPhone, released in the United States, Canada, and six European countries on June 19, 2009. The iPhone 3GS is named "3G" for supporting 3G data and the "S" stands for speed, mentioned by Phil Schiller in the launch keynote. Compared to the iPhone 3G, the 3GS improved performance, a better camera, voice control, and support for faster downloading speeds. The iPhone 3GS was produced until September 2012.
My iPhone 3GS is the 32 GB Chinese model (A1325) that was originally my mom's, which she used when in China.
The iPhone 3GS originally shipped with iPhone OS 3.0 and supports up to iOS 6.1.6 from February 21, 2014. My 3GS is currently running iOS 5.0.1 from November 10, 2011.
