The ThinkPad X41 is a unique ThinkPad laptop. It was released in 2005, right around the time Lenovo finished its acquisition of IBM's personal computing division, so technically it should be branded as the Lenovo ThinkPad X41, though the branding everywhere on the machine still says IBM. The X41 was a small and light ultra-portable laptop for the corporate world that came in a standard laptop form factor and also a tablet variant.
Collection Specifics
I bought my ThinkPad X41 for $10 and $9.84 delivery from Mercari in January 2022. It was described as "For Parts" from an estate sale and the seller did not have a charger to test the device. Anyways, it turns out the ThinkPad was fully functional and booted straight into Windows XP after plugging in a charger.
Operating System
This laptop shipped with Windows XP Professional when it was released and it's what is still running on the laptop.
Hardware
I have not made any hardware modifications to this machine since I bought it. The most important future modification I have in mind currently is a screen replacement because the current screen has some orange discoloration along parts of its borders.
