The Xbox 360 is Microsoft's second video game console, originally released on November 22, 2005. The original Xbox 360 models suffered high failure rates, indicated by the commonly known "Red Ring of Death." Before the Xbox One's release, Microsoft released two redesigns of the Xbox 360: the Xbox 360 S in 2010 and the Xbox 360 E in 2013. The Xbox 360 is the highest-selling video game console by Microsoft, as well as any American company.
My Xbox 360 unit is from November 29, 2008 and works well except for occasional issues with the disc drive. I bought it for $50 from a Goodwill thrift store in May 2020.
Since the original 360 does not have internal storage for games, I bought a refurbished 120 GB external drive for $30 from GameStop.
Due to issues with the disc drive's ability to read discs, I attempted to fix it by cleaning the laser with rubbing alcohol and a cotton swab, which did fix it for a while, but the issue eventually returned. Since then, I have obtained a 360 E which I now use to play my Xbox 360 games.
